PROGRAMS
Carpentry
The program provides a strong knowledge of construction safety, construction mathematics, and common hand tools. Students gain knowledge and skills specific to those needed to enter the work force as entry-level carpenters or a building maintenance supervisor’s assistant or can build a foundation toward a postsecondary degree in architecture, construction science, drafting, or engineering. Possible certifications: NCCER Core, NCCER Carpentry Level I and II, CPR, Forklift Operator, OSHA 10, TWIC
Instrumentation & Electrical
In this program, students gain knowledge and skills specific to those needed to enter the work force as an electrician/ instrumentation tech or building maintenance supervisor or prepare for a postsecondary degree in construction. Students acquire knowledge and skills in safety, electrical theory, tools, codes, installation of electrical equipment, and the reading of electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications. Machining
This program provides the knowledge, skills, and technologies required to be an entry level machinist. Students learn how to address a variety of materials in addition to metal such as plastics, ceramics, and wood. Students develop knowledge of the concepts and skills related to these systems to apply them to personal and career development. Maritime
This program is designed to instruct students as outlined by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) directly related to the National Maritime Center and the Merchant Mariner Credentialing Program. It provides training for entry-level employment and a basis for continuing education in deck and piloting careers and merchant mariner credentialing. It also instructs students in progressing aspects of vessel piloting and navigation, safety of life at sea, voyage planning, shipboard damage control, and marine pollution. Pipefitting
Students learn to lay out and install piping systems primarily for industrial facilities, such as chemical plants, oil refineries, food processing plants and paper mills. They also learn all facets of fabrication and welding. Possible certifications: NCCER Core, NCCER Pipefitting Level I and II, CPR, Forklift Operator, OSHA 10, TWIC
Welding
This program provides the student with job skills in the following areas: advanced electric arc welding; SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding of plate and pipe; advanced layout and fabrication; and development of self-motivated work skills and habits.
